About this deal

Universal announce Dexter Fletcher will direct Renfield, a movie about Dracula’s henchman. ( Source: Variety) We’re doing this cool movie for Universal that’s like a focus on Renfield where it’s a story about him being Dracula’s henchman and how shitty a job that is and so it’s a fun, extremely violent comedy because I’ve got a crutch and it’s violence. Nicholas Hoult will lead the cast as the titular character Renfield. It is his first time in a leading role since the release of drama movie Tolkien, in 2019, in which the actor played the creator of the Lord of the Ringsand Middle-earth, JRR Tolkien. This will be a completely different shift in gears as the actor pivots to comedy and horror.

Renfield first appeared in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, where he was an asylum patient who believed drinking blood would make him immortal. He eventually pledges himself to Dracula, who gets him to do his bidding by dangling the prospect of immortality in front of him.For information or assistance, call Cineworld on 0330 333 4444 Mon-Sun 09:00 - 22:00. With Nicolas Cage playing Count Dracula in Renfield, you would think the Academy Award winner would draw inspiration from the greats who have played the role in the past, but Cage (being Cage and all) wanted to try something different and give audiences a unique version of the character. When speaking on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast in January 2022, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent star revealed that he took inspiration from some less-than-obvious sources: Don’t worry, this isn’t another reboot of an old classic – Blumhouse’s new Exorcist movie is actually a direct sequel to the 1973 original. The plot is largely under wraps for now, but it will focus on the father of a possessed child, searching for other parents who’ve been in a similar position. Saw X

However, due to the ongoing actors' strikes in Hollywood, we've started to see some movies shift their release dates (including Dune: Part Two, which now won't arrive until 2024, unfortunately). The first trailer is released, teasing the hilarious dynamic between Dracula and his henchman. ( Source: Collider) Nicolas Hoult and Nicolas Cage star in Renfield, with Hoult playing the titular servant and Cage as Dracula. In this modern update on the kids-toy-gone-murderous approach, toy company roboticist Gemma (Allison Williams) creates an AI-assisted lifelike doll called M3GAN to be both a child’s best friend and to help out parents. But when Gemma gains custody of her niece following a car crash that kills the girl’s parents, M3GAN takes her task a little too seriously, killing anyone who tries to come between her and her charge.

As Universal Pictures teases, "Evil doesn't span eternity without a little help," and for the most infamous vampire, Dracula, that help comes in the form of Renfield. But after years of gruelling work, it looks like Renfield is looking for a way to stand up to his long-time boss. Here is the official synopsis: The story was pitched by comic book writer Robert Kirkman. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there's a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency." I was like, ‘What can I bring that will be different?’ Because I want it to pop in a unique way. We’ve seen it played not so well, so what can we do? And I’m thinking to really focus on the movement of the character. You know, I saw Malignant and I thought what she did with those moves — and even Ringu with Sadako [Yamamura], I want to look at what we can explore with his movement and voice. The final trailer for Renfield is released, showing Renfield and Dracula battling it out before the feature's release. ( Source: YouTube) The official synopsis reads: “In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Nicholas Hoult stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Nicolas Cage). But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his co-dependency.”
