About this deal

As mentioned throughout this review, the Bresser Junior Astro Planetarium can be most likened to the Sega Toys Homestar Flux and the National Geographic Astro Planetarium (the latter also being manufactured by Bresser). All three take imaging disks and project them onto a wall or ceiling, giving clear and bright images of celestial objects.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Astro Planetarium Bresser UK | NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Astro Planetarium

As with many star projectors, this one features a shooting star function. There is also an optional 30-minute or 60-minute switch-off timer so you can drift off to sleep and not worry about leaving the device on and draining the batteries. Three AA batteries are provided, which you'll need to insert (screwdriver required) before use. The device can also be powered by 5V DC, although you'd have to supply your own power cable as there isn't one included. If you have a little one who is afraid of the dark, this little turtle plush toy with a glowing, star-projecting shell will become their friend to light up the darkness. It can sit next to beds or prams and project a colourful night sky onto the ceiling, or can even be cuddled with in bed. Using two wheels on the front, you can set an exact date with time. This allows you to display the starry sky at a specific time. Use the dial to select what the night sky looks like on a specific time and date (Image credit: Tantse Walter) By default, you get two years warranty from the manufacturer. By registering the product online you can increase the warranty period to 5 years. The National Geographic Astro Planetarium Multimedia was delivered in a brightly colored box. This included the home planetarium, a stand, three AA batteries, two star disks, an AUX cable, and a user guide. One disc shows your starry sky, and the other shows a starry sky with star images. It offers only 8,000 stars per disc and therefore not quite as many as the Homestar Original / Star Theatre by Sega or the Homestar Flux, nevertheless, it convinced me above all by a multiplicity of functions, its simple operation as well as its low price. OK, yes- this isn’t really a “star projector,” which is why it is lower down in our ranking. However, we were mesmerised by the beautiful aurora-borealis-like lights that this lamp projects onto the ceiling, and we’re sure that you or your child will be too. First, you have to unscrew the cover on the underside of the planetarium. Underneath there is another cover, which can be removed by unscrewing the small screw. A cross-head screwdriver is required for this. The National Geographic Astro Planetarium Multimedia was able to score in the test with a multitude of functions. With the help of the two included discs, 8,000 stars each can be displayed – once with star images drawn in and once without. The star images have also been inscribed in Latin.

Therefore the star images on the star image disc are well recognizable. The names on it were written in Latin and are clearly legible at close range if you have perfectly adjusted the sharpness. If an educational home planetarium is what you are looking for, for scientific accuracy, out of the models we have reviewed, your choice is between this and the more expensive Sega Toys Homestar Flux.Which night sky projector is a special effects device, and which works almost like a real planetarium? Which one is fun for children and which one is more suitable for adults? Follow our guide and decide for yourself which is the best. In this test report, I would like to list not only the characteristics of the Home Planetarium Bresser junior AstroPlanetarium deluxe but also my own experiences. The Bresser Junior Astro Planetarium performs in much the same way as the National Geographic Astro Planetarium in terms of brightness and clarity of the projection, we expect they probably use the same components, given that Bresser manufactures both. The focuser works well. It's easy to turn and it's simple enough to bring the image of stars and constellations into focus from as far away as 3m from the projection surface. The focus can be easily adjusted. All you have to do is rotate the frame around the lens. The rest of the operation was also very easy for me.
