About this deal

There are plenty of Glow Play Blush shades that would look amazing on pale skin and fair skin tones, but I’ve chosen one in particular which is super, super wearable, and gives a really fresh look: the Cheer Up blush. Highly pigmented, long-wearing power, radiant finish, natural looking, lightweight, blends easily, like all MAC blushes it takes a while to hit pan Cons Powder Blush: your really classic, very pigmented blush (can also be used as a transition shade for eyeshadow looks) Extra Dimension Blush: very pigmented blush which a shimmery finish, very wearable and can be used as eyeshadow I like that I don’t have to worry too much about blending out the edges with it because it’s very well behaved and a cinch to apply (I usually use the swirl method with a couple of layers); great for mornings when I’m running late. Matter of fact, that’s what I did for these pics right before running out the door for lunch. Move over Helvetica…

Between Pinch Me, Blushbaby, Peaches, and the incredible MAC Mineralize blush range, I’m telling you about 16 great options today, as well as the undertones and what you could pair each specific blush with. Sheertone Blush: same texture as the Powder Blush, less pigmented, perfect for those who want a natural finish without having to blend out the color too muchSheertone Shimmer Blush: same texture as the Sheertone Blush, with fine glitter inside that reflects the light and leaves the skin glowy The great thing about Mocha is that it looks completely natural; you don’t have to carefully apply this blush, because it has such a gorgeous buildable colour that’s hard to overdo. It’s just that perfect MAC blush shade for anyone starting out in makeup, especially on redheads and blondes with really pale to fair skin, simply because it can be blended out very easily. The Sheertone Powder Blush in Peaches is the best for olive skin. A blush with a peach undertone adds appropriate warmth to the skin, making it an excellent choice for people with olive skin tone. There’s no way I could tell you what my personal favorite MAC blush shades are, really – probably the Extra Dimension blushes, which are something of a highlighter at the same time and can be wet to use as shimmery eyeshadows too.

MAC Mocha Blush is one of those shades you’ll bypass time and time again, until you’ve tried it once, and you’ll love the natural-looking, radiant effect it gives you. The color sings on a range of skin tones, from porcelain princesses (like Dita Von Teese, who says she loves it) to caramel cuties, and whenever I feel like wearing a soft, subdued pink, but either can’t find Blushbaby or want something a tad different, I grab Mocha. Why send that heartfelt message to your friend in boring old Courier, Helvetica or Arial when you can say it and so much more with Llama Font instead? 🙂 MAC list this shade as a ‘soft plum pink’, but it’s definitely a perfect rosy brown pink that flatters most complexions because of the soft matte finish. It’s, of course, shimmer free, with a slight blue undertone, but nothing that would make it problematic to wear.

Today’s review is going to be on the MAC Mocha Blush. After getting the MAC Desert Rose Blush, I really loved how natural it looked and also the matte finish. I wanted to get another one with similar subtle finish and that’s when I came across this one. So how did the MAC Mocha Powder Blush fare out? As usual with my guides to the best MAC products, I’ll write about the best MAC blushes for medium skin, olive, Indian, Asian, and dark skin as well down the road. If you have a medium skin tone, go with slight enhancement such as rosy pink, apricot, berry, or deep peach. Deep plum and berry shades complement dusky/dark skin tones the best.

And since I love multitask products, I’ve also applied a lot of these on the eyes as well, and the fact that they’re blushes means they’re less pigmented than your classic eyeshadows: that means they’re way easier to blend for beginners! Per the brand, the formula is supposed to "provide fantastic colour with ease and consistency" that "applies evenly, adheres lightly to skin." There are five distinct finishes within the range: Frost ("iridescent, lightly shimmering color"), Matte ("flat, matte finish... builds well"), Satin ("adds subtle highlights to the skin"), Sheertone ("sheer-on micro-refined powder ... that goes on faint"), and Sheertone Shimmer ("just enough shimmer to make light dance on your cheeks"). Their permanent blushes are available in compact form as well as pan-only (the latter will be cheaper). answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but Consider the Powder Blush in Fever for a regular reddish-burgundy flush on deep skin tones. The best option for natural-looking color on deep to medium complexion tones is the Powder Blush in Peaches. The Powder Blush in Melba’s delicate coral-peach shade is the best for medium to light skin tones.Only a few of the shades in the permanent range seemed to be particularly frosted/metallic on the skin; most shades that had shimmer appeared more softly luminous or pearlescent on the skin to the point where there was little sheen/reflection captured by my camera (I did a double take for a few and re-did swatches only to find the same finish captured yet again!). The Sheertone Shimmer performed most consistently with this: very subtle sheen, more "my skin but better" with having a slightly more noticeable sheen than matte. There were a few shades that had a strong sheen on the skin (like Peachykeen), though. The Frost finish just seemed to have stronger, larger shimmer in it, but the effect on the skin ranged being subtle to moderate. The same was true with Satin--some were more satin-like and some seemed more like a Frost (like Modern Mandarin). If you’ve been here before, you know I’m an ex-makeup artist, and worked for a little over a year in the MAC makeup stores in London and Paris, before going freelance and moving around the world. Careful though, Happy-Go-Rosy is much more pigmented, and while it’s easily blendable, you’ll want to take it step by step with this one so you don’t overdo it. It’s described as a mid-tone rosy pink, and it’s completely matte, as opposed to shades like Dainty or Petal Power. I’ve applied these shades countless times on all types of skin tones, and in my experience, the Extra Dimension blushes, Mineralize, and classic Powder Blush ranges are some of the best from MAC.

Like Blushbaby, Peaches, and Mocha, the MAC Melba blush is one of the most popular blushes from MAC Cosmetics. It’s a medium-toned coral blush, but much, much more muted than the Peaches blush, which is, on the other hand, brighter and more suited for warm weather. We all want to look our best, so why not do so with the best MAC blush in your collection? A single touch of this blush can bring color to your face and up your look in an instant. MAC is one of the best celebrity-endorsed brands in the world. Lorrie Pearson, a professional makeup artist, says, “MAC blushes have great pigmentation and are blendable. I love that they offer a diverse selection so you can find shades to work on every skin.” With so many shades of blush in their collection, all you need to do is select the right one, and you are good to go! MAC has a solid blush range but some shades are harder than others to blend out or diffuse, and as it does for most formulas (from any brand), it really comes down to some shades falling shy of expectations. The matte finish had a tendency to darken on my skin within five minutes of application; for most shades, I would recommend applying over a powdered face and/or avoiding applying on still-drying complexion products to make blending the easiest. The matte shades seemed to be semi-opaque to opaque, buildable, and long-wearing (about eight hours).
