There is a straightforward EQ control in the form of bass and treble sliders, although these are generally best left flat. There’s also an audio virtualiser mode to help create a soundstage especially for movie-watching and a night mode to enhance dialogue clarity while keeping the main volume and bass as low as possible.
Having tested the Audio Pro A28 a short time ago, the experience of the A38 was familiar. In many ways, it sounds like its little brother – but with a little more of everything. Just as impressively, multiple streaming options and three-system multiroom compatibility make these Audio Pro active speakers perfect for all your music options, too. It’s not a long way off a room-filling performance and certainly enough to feel the bass in our bodies. The Audio Pro A28 is a speaker system that gives you a lot for very little money. With streaming, multi-room and plenty of inputs, you get a complete little stereo system. Just add a mobile and a streaming subscription and you’re good to go. The biggest advantage with a pair of speakers rather than just a single one is full-fat stereo sound. No matter how well designed a single speaker is, genuine stereo speakers always deliver a broader soundstage – just like when you’re at a live concert or show. Basically, there’s what there should be: the bass is deep enough (assisted by the electronics), and voices come across nicely and openly in the soundstage. There’s also a quite reasonable sense of space behind and to either side of the speakers. The recipe is familiar and is used in most low-cost stereo speakers with built-in electronics. For example, the Argon Audio Fenris A5. Not true active The Audio Pro app itself is a little rudimentary compared to some, but also fairly well thought out. It's responsive and not over-complicated, which is important if you’re using the A26 as part of a larger Audio Pro multi-room set-up.
The first impression of the Audio Pro A28 is really positive. Although much smaller than shoeboxes, they provide a well-rounded and warm sound more reminiscent of a ‘real’ stereo system than a pair of small multi-room speakers. As well as working brilliantly with your TV, the Audio Pro A28 speakers are fantastic with music. Compatible with Spotify Connect (premium account required) and TIDAL Connect, they blend seamlessly with your favourite music service. Using cloud-based streaming, a vast array of music is always close to hand. If you’re in need of extra bass, both the A28 and A38 have a subwoofer output so you can connect one that fits your needs or room requirements (or choose one of Audio Pro’s own). They support just about every kind of input and you can use pretty much any music streaming service with them.
