Horus Heresy Saga: Tales of Heresy Blood Games: One of Dan Abnett's weaker works, the main merit of it is that it gives insight to the Custodian Guard. The overall problem it has with it is that it is split into two story arcs, and neither is developed particularly well. Story works well enough, though Abnett's prose can get over-heavy at times. I do get the feeling he was trying to fill word count at times, which is not like him. The main draw is that it gives a bit of development to a character that will appear later in the Horus Heresy series.

Kryptos follows Nykona Sharrowkyn and Sabik Wayland as they conduct a mission on Cavor Sarta to capture a Kryptos, a bio-engineered coding device that will allow the Loyalists to intercept and decrypt Traitor communications. A tense conference takes place on the bridge of the flagship of the War Hounds Space Marine Legion. Their primarch, Angron, was just teleported aboard their ship from his homeworld. For every other legion, the finding of their primarch has been a day of joy, but for the War Hounds it is one of violence and uncertainty. Their primarch has been confined to a hold in the bowels of the ship, and every Captain who has tried to treat with him has failed to return. The remaining Captains are at a loss what to do, until one of their number, Khârn, volunteers to be the next to try. Allegiance: Following his rescue by the White Scars in Scars ( Book 28), Revuel Arvida of the Thousand Sons Corvidae must decide his allegiance in the unfolding civil war, amidst the trails of those Khans who were part of the Lodges. Wolf at the Door: A reasonable entry into the series, but frankly unimportant to either the larger narrative or to give insight to the workings of the Space Wolves. Perhaps it served a better purpose before Prospero Burns, but as it stands now, it doesn't add anything. Story is entertaining enough, with some characters you find interesting. I could not imagine anyone recommending this story to someone else, however, or remembering it long enough to recommend.
