This trope is completely inverted as of Season 2. In addition to Aziraphale & Crowley, we also have Maggie/Nina and Gabriel/Beelzebub in prominent storylines. What we see happening in Heaven is simply what our limited human brains can approximate. This was to explain why Michael has perfect photos of Aziraphale and Crowley's meetings in times when the camera hadn't been invented. The scene where Aziraphale does the Gavotte is set at the 100 Guineas Club (a real life historic gentleman’s club for gay men).

The fifth episode's title sequence includes Johnny Vegas, who at least appears after the title sequence is complete... in a voice-only cameo role. Elsbeth makes choices Aziraphale can't understand because she doesn't have the opportunities he seems to think are universal. Self-Adaptation: Neil Gaiman, who was one of the co-authors of the original book, served as the showrunner and main writer for this series. And even when he comes around to see a benefit to body-snatching, he's fooled into thinking Mr. Dalrymple is a good man when, in fact, he exploits the poor like Elsbeth and justifies it with his belief that they are all drunks.But more than any of those, Good Omens season one was the story of the friendship between the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale. The whole Lord of the Flies title twigs the fact there have been flies mentioned at regular intervals through the series so far.
