About this deal

When two classmates, the bully and his target, are stuck working on project together I'm sure you can guess the eventual outcome. With chapters alternating between narrators Dan and Alex, we are given an intimate, inside view into the hearts and souls of these two boys.

While Dan is a fully fleshed-out character in this story, the other bullies - the Georges and Sophia - are just random evil flat characters.I thought this book was meaningful and important whilst still just being a great read, and what more could you really ask for than that? Alex’s OCD has been getting increasingly worse, meaning that it’s hard for him to leave the house in the morning even without the bullies waiting for him at school. All the things that could go Wrong" has also won many school and library awards, and continues to be shortlisted.

Then, as I learned more about Dan and what happened to his brother, Ben, I started to understand his aggressive attitude. Ross Welford, author of Time Travelling with a Hamster 'I loved it' Lisa Thompson, author of The Goldfish Boy There are two sides to every story Dan is angry. You might think this is going to be a cut and dried story of the nice boy who's being bullied and the bad boy who's doing the bullying, but it isn't. One notable aspect of this novel is the growth between the two characters, not just as friends, but understanding each other. Does the book contain anything that teachers would wish to know about before recommending in class (strong language, sensitive topics etc. But their paths are unwittingly thrown together when their mums make a plan for them to meet outside of school and finish the raft that Dan started with his brother. I won't go into too much depth here, but there were several occasions where Alex could have stepped in to help someone else from the bullying, but because you were inside Alex's head, you really got the sense of how it isn't that easy.

Your payment method will be charged immediately, and the product is expected to ship on or around September 4, 2018. But their mums are friends and they force them to finish off building Dan’s raft together – neither of them relish this prospect to begin with, but as they work together, things begin to change. You really get a sense of his struggles and being able to access the thoughts in his head was so important which is why it's such a good book to have included both the victim's and the bully's perspective. Alex has OCD which is seriously affecting his ability to do his schoolwork and interact with his classmates.

But in the end you understand why Dan is so horrible and then you kind of feel sorry for him and not Alex so much. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. I had to wait ages to borrow it from the school library as it was always on loan, so I guess other children think it's good too.
