About this deal

Anthracite-coloured dial with sunburn, Lumibrite luminous function with dot index and the three silver hands, day and date display and Seiko logo Introduced in 1968, the Seiko 5 Sports range was the brand’s idea of creating a sub-model of its popular ‘5’ range, which was launched in 1963 with the birth of the Sportsmatic. I know, it’s a tad confusing. In any case, the 5 Sports line was designed for more rigorous activities compared to the 5s. As a result, today’s 5 Sports are also targeted at buyers who intend to use them as stylish, affordable, mechanical beaters that can take a hit. Reading the spec sheet, the 4R36 looks to be quite a decent calibre. The 24-jeweled movement beats at a rate of 3 Hz (21,600 vph) and has a claimed accuracy rating of +45/-35 seconds per day. I, for one, can tell you that the latter figure is extremely conservative. My personal SRPD51K1 which I wore for an entire week was putting out an average of +9.5 seconds per day! As for its power reserve, Seiko states the 4R has “approximately 41 hours” worth of juice, fully-wound. Silver, multi-link bracelet made of brushed stainless steel with a triple folding clasp with safety pusher The bracelet is solid and feels rather robust, but naturally, at this price point, you can expect some rattle. As a dive watch, it has a unidirectional rotating bezel. Specifically, the srpd51k1 has a blue aluminum bezel insert. Home to a plethora of limited-edition timepieces, the Seiko 5 Sports collection is also brimming with brilliant collaborations. One such collaboration is with the streetwear brand, HUF. Launched with two iterations of the 5 Sports, the HUF Limited Edition is a vibrant addition to the collection. On average, a delivery to the EU will take between 3-5 working days and delivery to the rest of the world will take 5-7 working days.

The Seiko srpd51k1 has a water resistance of 100 meters, 330 feet, or 10 bar. This means that you can wear it when swimming, but it’s not the ideal watch to wear if you are going deep diving. But at the same time, nowadays only very few people go deep diving with their dive watches. The case has a mineral crystal (Hardlex). No, it’s not a sapphire crystal, likely to keep the cost down, but the mineral crystal will do the job well also. It is placed in between a Sapphire crystal and a regular glass crystal. It won’t get scratches from regular usage, but if you accidentally hit it against a hard object, it will naturally be more prone to scratches than a sapphire crystal. So, what does this mean? Should we consider the new 5 Sports as successors to the SKX range? Well, that depends on what you’re looking for. There are several differences that could appear like an upgrade or a downgrade, depending on where you stand. You’ll spot them on the way down, I promise. Love the review, I have not liked the new SKX cased Seiko 5s but this model has changed my mind. A dress watch with dive styling! Yes please! Reply I called and the team was extremely helpful and patient with me, making sure the bracelet is the perfect length for my wrist.

Unlike many automatic watches, this model comes with a Seconds-Stop functionwhich allows the wearer to completely halt the movement within the watch. I'd recommend going for the SRPE51 compared to the 53 or 55 as there is something about the gunmetal grey which really brings this watch together (as shown by the video).

As a 21 year old who is just starting their first professional job, I wanted a daily watch to match but one which could also be used for walking the dog, going out for dinner, etc... THIS IS THE ONE! The silver stainless steel bracelet features a three link oyster style. The maximum bracelet setting is 23cm which can then be fastened using a fold over clasp. It also sits at a tidy lug width of 20mm which complements the 40mm case well. This bracelet is sure to catch to eye when glistening in the sun. The Dial:

On the outer ring of the dial, we have the minute markers, which allow the dial itself to appear as more clean. You see, I’ve always tended toward cleaner watches, even with my divers (like my Mido Ocean Star and Omega SMP 2254.50, the latter which I’ve described as a ‘dress diver’). So how could I have been so surprised when the new, fixed-bezel Seiko 5 SRPE51 came along? How did I not anticipate the love? Everything you’ve said you don’t like about the SKX is just a feature of any dive watch. This watch is nothing like a dive watch and much more like a dress watch. Seems a little silly to even compare the two… Reply The mechanism within the watch is 4R36 automatic movementwhich is built in house and the calibre is comprised of 24 Jewelsand a 41 hour power reserve. The only thing is, it seems the Seiko mod community hasn’t caught up yet. Does anyone know where I could find an alternative strap/bracelet with curved end links that would fit this? Reply
