About this deal

Using a glue gun, place a bead of glue along the top edge of your larger card template, and wrap around the paper cup attaching it securely to the rim, making sure it is also fairly tight at the base of the cup. Finish by placing a bead of glue down the free straight edge of the card. Place a bead of glue at the top of the card shape and wrap tightly around the paper cup, securing it at the rim These are great – so simple yet so effective. I’ll definitely be doing these with my kids as we love the Mad Hatter and are all a bit bonkers! #KidsandKreativity We based our design on the Mad Hatter’s hat in the original Disney film. The hat is light green in colour with the top of the hat being as big if not bigger than the rim, with the iconic 10/6 price tag. Just a little bit of Disney trivia for you, the 10/6 price tag stands for 10 shillings and sixpence in old money and is a nod to the Mad Hatter’s profession. The hat in the film also has a dark green band at the base. We didn’t have any green ribbon, so we went with what I had and choose contrasting colours instead.

So what do you think of our little Mad Hatter Headband? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. The first part is to make a template for you coloured card to cover your paper cup. You could skip this step if you plan on painting the cup to colour it instead of covering it with card. The new designs include two tops, a two-piece dress set, and a trench coat — all available in extended sizes featuring some of the beautiful concept art for the film by artist Mary Blair , who was one of the first female artists for The Walt Disney Company. Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderlandand the whimsical world of Disney Legend Mary Blair in this delightful two-piece dress set by Her Universe with off the shoulder, puff sleeves, billowing skirt, ruffles, and a fanciful floral print pattern inspired by pre-production art from the film. Those headbands look amazing with the contrasting colours and I love how simple they are to make. Good idea too to use ribbon to help attach them to the headband – will remember that tip when making headbands in future! #KidsandKreativityCelebrate the 70th Anniversary of Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderlandwith this set of three woven headbands inspired by visual development art for the animated classic by Disney Legend Mary Blair. Draw around the rim and base of the paper cup onto the paper for guidelines to create a template Draw a staright line down the visible edge of the template, and then cut it Thanks Lauretta, they really are super simple to make and don’t have to be Mad Hatter headbands, you can let your imagination run riot! My daughter recently had an Alice in Wonderland themed tea party for her birthday, and together we made these Mad Hatter Headbands for her friends to get them in to the swing of things. Our headbands were a little on the thin side, so to attach the hat to the headband securely I glued a small piece of ribbon to the base, then used more glue and wrapped the ribbon around the headband. If you have wider headbands you could probably get away with gluing the hat straight onto the band. Once you have your template, the rest is easy. Draw around the template on to the sheet of coloured card, and also draw round the top of the cup twice. Cut out the three shapes. I love the idea of this – and you make it look easy with the step by step instructions – thanks Kerry! Isla of course insisted she had the green one, but choose different colourways for her friends based on their favourite colours. This looks quite easy but very effective, going to make some with my grandchildren next time they visit #kidsandkreativity@_karendennis

Once the table was set for the tea party, we placed the hats at the girls places. They all seemed to really like them and they helped them to get into the spirit of the Mad Hatter’s Tea party.
